Eligibility & application

Who can apply?

Applicants are typically 18–30, comfortable communicating in English, interested in Chinese culture and genuinely willing to spend time with children. Final eligibility depends on placement and documentation requirements.

Do I need childcare experience?

Some experience is important, but it can come from babysitting, tutoring, coaching, volunteering or caring for younger relatives. Tell us honestly what you have done.

Do I need to speak Mandarin?

No. A willingness to learn is enough. Weekly lessons and daily immersion help you build practical confidence.

Matching & family life

Can I choose my family and city?

You can share preferences and choose whether to accept a proposed family after video conversations. City availability depends on suitable families and timing.

What will I do each week?

You will usually contribute about 30–35 hours per week through conversational English, play, school routines and light childcare. Your agreed schedule is confirmed before arrival.

Will I have my own room?

Yes. A private bedroom, daily meals and a safe home environment are core placement expectations.

Travel, support & safety

What support do I receive before travel?

We guide preparation, documents, insurance, arrival planning and cultural expectations with a clear checklist and personal contact.

What if there is a problem with my placement?

Speak with your coordinator early. We help both sides communicate and find a solution. If a placement cannot continue, the team reviews appropriate next steps.

Is emergency support available?

Yes. Participants receive local coordination throughout the program and 24/7 support for urgent situations.

Costs & inclusions

What is included?

Typical inclusions cover accommodation, meals, Mandarin classes, local support, activities, arrival orientation and pocket money. Your exact package is confirmed before matching.

Can I travel during the program?

Yes, during your agreed free time and holidays. Travel costs and plans are normally your responsibility, and you should coordinate dates with the family.

How long can I stay?

Program options generally range from 2 to 12 months, depending on eligibility, family availability and the arrival plan.
